Once we rode our Alpe d’Huez 01, we wanted to make an excellent racing bike that could also be sold at a more accessible price point. The TIME Alpe d’Huez 21 Aktiv is the answer. Designed with the same race geometry as the Alpe d’Huez 01 Aktiv, the Alpe d’Huez 21 Aktiv provides if anything an even more comfortable ride, thanks to the carbon fiber and Basalt mixture.
By using our Resin Transfer Molding technology at our own European based factory, we are able to develop a frame with the exact riding qualities we want. In the case of the Alpe d’Huez 21, we wanted to have the same responsive, lightweight ride with a touch more compliancy in the frame to absorb more road vibrations. In fact, the combination makes it perhaps our most enjoyable frame to ride.
It also makes it the perfect frame to pair with our Aktiv Carbon Fork with its woven-in vibration dampening system. TIME has developed the Aktiv fork with the intention of reducing road vibrations by 30% compared to a typical carbon fork. We have managed this by using a special braiding technique where the carefully chosen Vectran fibers are woven into a unique shape that works to dampen the vibrations before they reverberate up to the rider’s hands.
