There is perhaps no place where you will thank your lucky stars that you have disc brakes on your bike more than when you are descending a long mountain through the rain. That’s where adding disc brakes to a great climbing bike like the Alpe d’Huez 01 Disc makes such great sense.
Even if you are worried about the extra weight disc brakes could add, the Alpe d’Huez 01 starts out already so light that you will hardly notice the extra grams. We do everything in-house at TIME, right down to the weaving of the materials together, which means we can find the perfect balance of weight, rigidity and strength. Combining a greater proportion of high modulus carbon with high resistance carbon and weaving in a portion of Vectran fibers means that we can find the ride quality wanted. The Resin Transfer Molding process helps us keep the materials to a minimum, consequently creating a lighter frame. Injecting the resin under high pressure ensures a consistent level of resin is used, with no chance of an excess amount unnecessarily adding to the weight or voids compromising quality and security.
The race geometry of the Alpe d’Huez 01 Disc hits that sweet spot of race-ready and balanced performance so that you will feel the snappy handling enhances the ride without causing unwanted twitchiness on descents.
